What define us?

cycle of life series

cycle of life pink

We are defined by what we miss, by what we haven t got by our negatives and shadows.

As light is defined by darkness, matter is defined by void, so life is defined by death. If darkness wouldn’t exist the meaning of light could be pure energy with no color and shadow variations, if the universe was void based no matter could define it, no words could be written and no readers would read those words.

The basic inner fear from death is but an emotional instinctive alarm to be aware to watch for this precious life continuance, two questions arose from this notion:

Life continuance for what?

And why to be afraid from death?

I will  start with the second question, there are no human beings on this planet that were soldiers in the first world war, there won’t exist any living human being that lives now in 200 years’ time, so death is a natural process as being born as being able to walk and speak, there is nothing to be afraid, it is much more frightening to live forever, so now I can refer to the first question, life couldn’t and shouldn’t be an endless process, the one direction journey of the physical body from conception, birth, growth, maturity and death is what defines the urge to live, the need to speak out to be special to leave a mark and live by this mark the entire life.

When dealing with stars and galaxies we are in totally different time-space dimension, in stars time we hardly exist like a one hour living butterfly, that in this short hour he has got he shines with the most colorful wings in an inspiring calm glide. an hour before he was in a cocoon now the hour ends his harmonious colorful body would melt in the ground unnoticed.

Physically it is the same description for any human being what differs us from all other living creatures is our minds, our ability to dwell, ruminate, contemplate about our origin and mission. This is the true meaning of the human journey to explore what would be its best performance in the short time he appears on this planet with the machinery he have got and with the understanding that there is not a second chance.

We are defined by our questions and answers and if there are more questions than answers it means we are still alive

Ants and human purpose

Image

Imagine you are an ant, what do you see? What do you smell? What drives you? Is there inspiration in your ant life?

From an ant perspective, human beings are super giants. The ant – human proportion is like the Empire state building – human proportion. it’s impossible to refer to a living creature the size of the Empire state building because our faculties are attuned to deal with the ordinary human scale.

The longevity of ants depends on function, male live few weeks, the workers live about 2 years and the queen can live more than 20 years. So for a male ant life is a very short term journey, but do the male ant realize it? Probably for the male ant it lives long and prosperous life because all male ants are in the same life boat.

Ants are one of the most ancient planetary species they exist more than 100 million years and evolve constantly till nowadays they represent one of the most intricate social colonies with high communication skills based on pheromones sharing.

If you have read my articles before you should know by now that ants are not my main interest, human beings are and what I am trying to demonstrate in this short article is that our world is narrow and limited much more than the ant world, I say much more because in the human case there is the awareness and consciousness that makes this understanding critical for real life evaluation.

The human span of life is about 29000 days or about 80 planetary orbits around the Sun or about 1000 moon orbits around planet Earth or 0.000023 of the solar system orbit around the center of the Milky Way galaxy. In galactic terms our physical bodies don’t exist or if exists they are unnoticed as the male ant short life span. The male ant is not aware of it as most of human beings are not aware of the limited time span they have on this planet. What differs us from ants is the possibility to ponder about our lives and the choices we have got within our life system to ignore this disturbing question and treat our bodies as the sole marvel of creation.

As ants live in societies so human do as ants have specific rule on this planet so human do, as ants have so limited time to fulfill their mission so human do.

The physical human scale can last for 80 years but its energetic field that can be classified as spirit lives forever and with it the notion that there is a reason for human beings to live on this planet, this reason has to do with a human global energetic radiation that is a feed to this planet, this aim can’t be achieved only by individuals, but by an ant based harmonious society in which individuals share their authentic spirits for personal and planetary development.

There are no shortcuts in life

'Wounded bird'

from the cycle of life painting series – wounded bird

Every life has its expected cycle. There are no shortcuts in life

Every human being is a result of ovum-sperm convergence then birth, childhood, maturity, old age and eventually death there is no way to escape this cycle, there is no way to appear in middle age and have the opposite journey towards childhood

Life is one directional arrow once fired cannot be drawn back

This simple truth should be deeply pondered. If in this limited time that our life arrow is on the air we won’t be precise and aligned with our truth there won’t be a second chance.

There won’t be another life arrow to the one life we have got

There won’t be another opportunity to fulfill our true destiny in this embodiment  that represent us in this one time magical act we play on the planet Earth stage.

Contemplating and ruminating upon this issue brings in mind the fact that the only limitless faculty in our body is our brain that can reach the farthest border of our expanding universe, our body is an intricate genius build machinery but it is limited to the edge of the skin and to the very limited life span that flash can survive and support our inner organs.

Another fact to be considered is that as every celestial body lives within other similar bodies so human beings are created to live together in tribes, or cities which are the modern tribes, in nations that are inter-related and that can form the base of global cooperation.

In my mind I see global cooperation in revealing the true aim of the human journey, this task is much more crucial then exploring the atom or the deep space.

The truth about atoms and deep space lies within every human being regardless nationality, race and religion; this is the new religion having one global code to unlock the mystery of being.

This has to come from unity rather than separation

Curiosity rather than apathy

Compassion rather than hatred

Acceptance of our limitations rather than knowing all

Openness rather than knowing all

Eternal quest of the human journey rather than knowing all

There are some answers that have no questions

Cy twombly, french barrette and the Tao in art life

from the cycle of life series

As above so below – created by Ted Barr

An older man with a French barrette stopped near me while I was viewing Cy Twombly’s works at the contemporary art museum in Berlin.

‘Eretz hakodesh’, he said

This means in Hebrew ‘the holy land’

There was a Hebrew sentence written on my shirt

We began talking about Cy Twombly’s works.

It symbolizes the Tao, he said

How is that, I inquired

The Tao is the Zen way to guide human beings through life, It says that everything flows, there are no real borders between human beings and nations, the borders are only in each human being mind. There is neither beginning nor end not happiness nor is sadness, there is no definite good as there is no definition for bad. The bad of today can turn to be the best of tomorrow.

But what has it all to do with Cy Twombly’s art works?

This, he pointed at a big white canvas with 3 green lines on it, is creating from emptiness.

What do you mean by emptiness?

it means forming a visual manifestation of what passes through the creator rather than what he is and what he feels at the moment.

Fullness carries all the weight of fears, inhibitions, moralities, believes, relations.

Emptiness is just a shade in the dark.

It is easy to detect Tao painters, they are not trying to impress, they are not trying to draw attention not to them nor to their art works, they are not trying to fill all the canvas sometimes one line is enough to explicit the entire artist’s journey.

Cycles of being

Dreams

Wounded bird from the Cycle of life painting series created by Ted Barr

The headline ‘cycle of life’ is a partial name and doesn’t describe the full dynamic at play. The name should be the cycle of being and evolving in which life is but a part of a much larger and endless span of continuous metamorphosis between matter, awareness, energy that weave together in what appears to be being. I wrote few articles about the motivation in creating my new ‘Cycle of life’ painting series, this short article is a complementary way to look at this concept.

Being or living is but a short manifestation of matter and awareness. It is obvious that all living creatures would die, but dying is yet another moment of transformation in which matter and awareness separates and returns into mother Earth arsenal for creating other forms of life or life supporting entities.

The question is what happens to the awareness part that defines human beings. Religions were created for this enigma, if the life/death cycle would be clear we wouldn’t need pops, priests and rabbis; we would not need fairy tale ideas about heaven and hell; nor soldiers and armies. The disagreement about who holds the true meaning of life caused more deaths than any disease or planetary revenge. We need religion because we need to be part of something, as one cell is lost alone. There are no lonely planets, but only planets gathering around a sun, so it is a human need to gather around something. In ancient times it was but a campfire. How many lives could be spared along history if campfires would be the main cause of human gatherings?

I believe that nothing awaits us after death. Even if we eat the best marvels of the world cuisine we will turn skinny after few days in the ground. As I see it, the meaning of life lies only in the contribution of all human lives to a certain planetary order and as the ant or the bee dies after completing its mission so human beings and every other living creature.  Living is but a part, a very small part in the being chain, so it is only the circle that can encapsulate the essence of the endless cycle that has no beginning nor end, as the universe has no beginning or end because the ultimate rational explanation of God is what created the Big Bang, and the Dalai Lama answered wisely in saying that our universe came into being by another universe.

In the cycle of life series I tried to depict some of those aspects, this is the way I try to live the only life I’ve got; by sharing my thoughts and images with other human beings that are awake and willing to listen.

Number 5

Number 5

The number 5 resembles in almost all ancient religions the human being. Thinking about it is rational, there are 5 fingers in each hand and 5 fingers in each foot, why 5 we could live with 3 fingers or with 7 but any human on this planet that is not artificially mutated have 5 fingers. There are 5  main exits for the human body, head, two hands, two legs. There are 5 senses; there are 5 holes in the human face, 2 nostrils, two ears, and the mouth.

The human body is a processing machine, its produce is physical as, excrement, urine, sweat and tears and energetic outcome as thoughts, dreams, telepathy and feelings.

In a series of Kirillian photos it was evident that all human edge points emanate energy, the most interesting review is that the energy from each finger is different, by frequency and thus by color, all the transmitted human energy is merged into a balloon shaped energetic field that is referred to as Aura which is the out result of all the energetic activity of every human being.

The first to reveal itself to us is the human Aura thus we can feel immediate rejection or attraction to a person before we know him or her it’s the Auras encounter at play, it is an energetically based conversation, information exchange that can form feelings that are translated into actions. What we usually see is the out result not the deeper motive or ignition that caused this action to manifest.

The fact is that the majority of planet Earth population is living in a very difficult surrounding most of our planet population is living unhappy sometimes miserable life, it’s not only the poorest Catadores in Rio de Janeiro, it’s the emotionally detached people of New York, Stockholm,  Wien and almost every modern city that encapsulates millions of human organisms in small cubic cells for the rest of their lives, the only aim of all those laboratory creatures is to survive.

Survive for what?

So what’s the connection of all this to number 5?

The number 5 resembles the natural human rhythm. The truly happy people I know are those that live more naturally, if the number 5 appears in such a significant way  we should listen to what it indicates.

May be the proper way for human beings to live on this 5 pace is to divide the time to 5 days a week and 5 months and 5 years cycles. And most of all to pay more attention to their electrical life which is much more important than the physical because the physical body is designed to last about 100 years but the spirit, as believed in all religions remains forever/

Moments to be remembered

Moments to be remembered

Most our moments pass untraced. We remember only special events, the more we remember means the more extraordinary events we experienced. Lucky is the one that can cherish as many good moments.

From this understanding stems the question. Why is life treated in such a casual way, why is it that people live like they will stay here forever, why life, the force of life in human being doesn’t t send  alert signals that would awaken the urge to create some meaningful moments before we depart from our bodies.

Human beings are the only creatures on planet Earth that act against their nature, that have been given the privilege of rational choices that were given the opportunity of spiritual development, higher levels of self-understanding, means to enquire about their origin, planets, stars and universal events, and with all those given capabilities it seems that most of the choices are in the wrong direction.

I don t consider myself to be an authority that can determine what is the right direction, but by observing life for more than 50 years it’s clear to me what are the moments I will remember, what are the events in my life that are engraved in my path and won’t ever be forgotten. Most of those moments have to do with giving.

During an art workshop I gave in San Miguel De Allende in Mexico, one of the participating students asked me if I’m not afraid to give this technique I developed away and shouldn’t I be bothered that other artists would imitate my art, I said to her that I was never in my life sorry for the things I gave but I often regretted the things I didn’t give.

The entire ancient world was about giving and sharing, people that lived in the same tribe shared all their possessions, food ceremonies together.

In the modern world it’s all about taking, from each other, from ourselves from society from the planet. In an ancient tribe all inhabitants knew each other; in a condominium apartment in NYC most probably won’t know the name of their next door neighbor.

Times pass quickly, moments flow in an everlasting one direction sea of destiny where physical bodies are not accepted.

So why not have a radical change in your attitude towards your life.

Wake up and live.

Create as many meaningful moments because what passes today won’t return tomorrow, from the 30000 days we got every day counts, every moment. When we’ll leave our physical bodies we leave behind all that is attached to the physical we’ll continue to exist only in those people that we managed to truly share, touch or emotionally connect.
